Discourse Markers

Icons can help us orient ourselves in texts and so on. Below are icons we use regularly, along with very brief explanations and links to much more information.

DAO LORE The main icon near the top of a "Build Tao" essay of stringed points. It shows that one or many ways (means) of gaining or building (for) Tao presumably follows. [More] [More] [More]

ANEC.The bramble bush serves as a humour icon; it shows that its adjoining section is fairly humorous, but not without its thorns, perhaps. [More]

LoOne

The first, beginning level of discourse has this heading. There are no fixed images to go with it. Many and widely divergent images occur. [More]

LoTwo

LoThree

A five-pointed star - Welcoming Hands - or TAO ICON or Welcoming Hands may signal a marriage - and underscore that Tao (some variant of it, really), could be attained at this stage. A glad dog picture may signal the same. [More] [More]

Summary and Gist

SUMMARY ICON A magpie is frequently used to to mark a three-steps summary of the essay proper. [More]

DESTILLED, THEN "In a nutshell" - The image of this newborn child shows the summary summarised, often in the form of a capsule (extract) that can be favourable to remember and bear in mind, all in all.

Anecdote or Similar

ANECDOTE ICON ANECDOTE ICON Especially the left icon serves to mark anecdotes when they appear on site pages. Anecdotes round off some table essays. [More]
