Lessons
Philosopher of education ... (John Dewey)
This page earlier took people to selected works from antiquity and other times. The links were taken off the Internet on October 6, 2004 for good reasons:
There are good points in very many ancient and modern writings, and some statements here and there in such sources may be fit for decision-making even today. Yet, since this link service was first started in 1996, over twenty thousand writings have been added to the abundance of free, online texts of differing quality, and search engines have become vastly better. Thus, there is no longer the same need for our selection of links to free online works. There are bigger lists online today.
We do appreciate neat efforts to make works freely available and easier to find. There can be salient points to find in works of general archives and specialised archives, and there are many sorts of archives today. There are many snags, though. Some seek profit; others seek to dominate followers by stiff indoctrination; and some don't do any of it: We feel for those who put forth efforts to make information freely available.
HOHO We could also hand you some information about how to sort out various sites according to this very rough sketch - and we can let it be, at least for now. The quality of the sites or works is another troublesome thing to deal with. There are rules of the thumb to be found - and assessing how good the information of a site is, is not always easy.
All this said, we close down our particular link selection to various ancient key works today. As a result we may get more time for sifting and re-arranging fine points of various wisdom writings.

Kind regards, T. Kinnes
