Sound Sleep is Needed. Much Else Too

Maturing Observations on the SRF Walrus Discussion Board

On another page I have gathered research-founded information about how much sleep humans need. It varies much. There are literature references on that page too. I recommend a visit there; help yourself. [Sleep deprivation in SRF is possible]

You may wonder what may be done if one is trapped in a cult that foolishly says their guru's guidelines are without flaw, and he says that 6-5-4 hours of nightly sleep is enough, contrary to the research findings and the body's and mind's problems caused by rigid belief in the guru. Should we just get out of the cult, shrugging our shoulders? Or should we, for the benefit of others that are young and inexperienced about traps in cults, leave a sign that says: "Don't get duped; This guru hailed dictatorship and may cause havoc in a life by ensnaring measures, especially if you get devoted"?

Many seem to find no way out without much hurt. Someone posting on an SRF-related discussion board: "How can so many in SRF believe they can get to God and still be in denial? I'm afraid I'm on the wrong path if where this is all heading is more sophisticated realms of denial."

Another: "Many of us have, only recently, been able to quit crying all night. Please understand how difficult it is to establish a normal life."

The art of relaxation - Yogananda and SRF teaches some sides to it. However, there is "the proof of the pudding:" the methods are not enough for former SRF monks and nuns of his order. One third of them left the SRF premises rather recently, around 2002. May I suggest the great book on yogic relaxation by Satyananda, Yoga Nidra [Yn].

A third guy, a former monk: "I think that what is in the minds of most, who are posting, is a strong hope that what they say will help others to realize the stench that emits from SRF."

The mess has an origin and can have many outcomes. It pays to be careful. To be functional can help. Sleep deprivation, caused by trying to follow guru guidelines that are much ill-founded for half of the population, hardly helps.

If a cult has big plans, learn to pocket your money the sooner the better.

Tips

1. To be banished from SRF is not experienced as unreal, long years after Yogananda said the world is unreal, a dream, an illusion.

2. SRF's biggest problem seems to be SRF, so far as SRF itself is unreal as part of the Yogananda world -

3. To give vent to this, for it may be needed. Some may otherwise never get well.

I swam upon the devil's lake
But never, never never never
I'll never make the same mistake.
