HH A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (1896–1977) was the spiritual teacher behind ISCON, the "Hare Krishna Movement", founded in 1966. Before he became a swami in 1950 he was married, had children and owned a small pharmaceutical business. In 1959 he started writing commentaries on Vishnuism scriptures.
