Basic ideas of the Vedanta scriptures are linked to the Vedas. There are at least ten schools of Vedanta. They hold different views as to how God, the individual and the world are related. All are rooted in interpretations of ancient Vedas. The basic works are the Upanishads, the Brahma Sutras (Vedanta Sutras) and the Bhagavad Gita.
