Folklore

Folkloren i ein kultur eller større gruppe femner blant anna over legender, ordspråk, vitsar, eventyr, historier og skrøner. Humor finst i store mengder i folkloren, også i folkeeventyr. Folk som granskar folklore kan bli kalla folkloristar. Folklore og mytologi er kopla i hop på visse måtar.

Eit folkeeventyr kan lett bli gitt attåttydingar (konnotasjonar) å fundere over, kan tilmed få mystisk innhald når ordbilde og uttrykk ein synest er sentrale i forteljinga, blir forstått i overførte meiningar og sett på som symbol og allegorier. I så fall tolkar ein den endeframme forteljinga og legg inn meiningar ved tolkingane.
