Krishna is regarded as a deity in Hinduism, and by some as the Supreme Being and Lord Himself. The earliest text that gives detailed descriptions of Krishna as a personality is the epic Mahabharata of ancient India. The main part of the teaching poem Bhagavad Gita is put in his mouth, and so is the larger part of the lesser known Uddhava Gita.
