Deterioration goes along with aging, but some sides to it can be halted, TM research documents, and other sides have to be handled.
There are many forms of yoga, and fit alternatives to blind guru-belief and unbecoming guru-submission, just as Buddha pinpoints in the Kalama Sutta. Insistent foolishness and debasement are not parts of the yogas we need to welcome.

"The universe is filled with prana; all creation is a manifestation of force, a play of force. Everything . . . is nothing but the different modes of expression of the universal force. The universal prana is thus . . . immanent energy or force . . . which permeates and sustains the universe." [Paramahansa Yogananda (1893 - 1952), in God Talks with Arjuna: The Bhagavad Gita 1:497]
COMMENT. The guru who said that, was he nothing but a play of force? What had happened to his "I"-ness and Being?
"Everything is nothing but -" must be called a reductionistic claim and an assault on everything else. According to modern thinking, there are (a) information, (b) energy and (c) matter aspects to a thing in (4, 5) the time-space continuum as we know it, and that's not all.
