The kriya yoga guru Lahiri Mahasaya (1828-95) is also called Lahiri Baba. His real name is Shyama Charan (Devi Sharman) Lahiri. 'Mahasaya' is a customary sign of respect. Lahiri Mahasaya is known for simplifying kriya yoga and spreading it. A householder who worked as an accountant, he was the guru of Yukteswar, who in turn was the guru of Yogananda. He gave commentaries to 26 works in the light of kriya yoga. Extracts are found here. I call them "specialities", and explain why in the introduction. - TK
